Opportunities

Opportunities

I love listening to Brian Tracy, and reading his books, as he’s so inspirational. He says that “when you look for opportunities in life, you’ll end up with all of the security you need, opportunities are the secret ingredient”. However, if you only seek security, you’ll end up with neither opportunities nor securities.” He goes on to say that “the proof is that this is all around us, in the downsizing and reconstructing of corporations, where thousands of men and women who sought security are finding themselves unemployed for long periods of time.”

He says that “a person makes his or her own luck (opportunities) by setting goals, following through and achieving them.” I totally believe this to be true. I had a client the other day and I used the driving metaphor for their goal setting, and it went something like this, “you live in Preston; however you’d like to live in Manchester, as opposed to setting a negative goal of moving away from Preston, I’d ask you to set a positive goal of where in Manchester you’d like to live. You see without this positive goal, you’re like the driver of a car without a destination, and you’d be driving around aimlessly, looking for opportunities, inspiration, and direction.

I ask you to look at people you already know quite well, and a pattern will emerge, and that pattern will be that you’ll see that many of these people are “drivers” without direction, opportunities or inspiration. They’re not happy in their relationship, career or home environment they’re in, and sadly because they’ve no direction, or inspiration, they’ve absolutely no idea what they wish for, and end up driving their car (LIFE) around in circles and never really go anywhere, and not seeing any opportunities.” Brian goes on to say ”you make your own luck and opportunities by getting out of your comfort zone and achieving your goals on your own.”  As the lovely Louise Hay would say “I am in the process of positive change” however if you turn it into an afformation (Noah St John created afformations) “how can I be in the process of positive change?” just watch the magic flow!
