We know it’s time for change in January, as we set our goals for the year ahead, with the best intentions achieving them. We go to the gym or we do whatever type of exercise that floats our boat, always with the best intentions, and yet many fall at the first hurdle. That doesn’t mean they are weak in anyway, it simply means that 90 percent of our life comes from our subconscious programming, and put simply, our life is a blueprint of our subconscious programs. Anything in your life that flows with ease, is flowing because you have within your subconscious mind a program that allows them to flow easily, it’ll be something you love. Flipping the coin, anything that requires you to work hard at achieving something, where you put a lot of effort into achieving it or you struggle and fight hard to make it happen, is simply a result of your programs not supporting what you are trying to achieve.

The subconscious mind doesn’t judge, it just does, it is like a video recorder, it records, pushes a button, plays back. That’s why most people have issues and get frustrated when there’s no change. The two minds are unique and learn differently. The conscious is the creative mind and learns by reading and watching, whereas the subconscious mind is the habit mind. The habit mind is that you don’t want it to change very quickly, because otherwise habits fall apart, so, it is resistant to change.

So, when it is time for change, the first thing we need to understand is that it’s not as easy to change, unlike like the creative mind. Let’s say you read a positive self-help book the conscious mind understood it, however the subconscious mind learned nothing from it, because you only read it once and this is not how it learns. If you repeat the message of the book over and repeatedly and behave that way, then the subconscious mind will learn a new behaviour.

The mother of all learning is repetition, so it is about habituation, where you practice something, every day repeat it repeatedly, as the old saying goes, practice makes perfect.
